AN altercation with his father resulted in 20-year-old Michael Gary John Hardman carrying out £629 worth of damage to his parents' house, a court heard.

Hardman (20), of Park Lane, Whitefield, admitted causing damage to doors and a wall clock belonging to Ian Corkhill.

Bury magistrates gave Hardman a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered him to pay compensation of £200 as well as £45 court costs.

Miss Jacqueline Stott, prosecuting, said the incident leading to Hardman's arrest took place at the father's house in Radcliffe and hinged on Hardman being told to clear up a mess left by his dog.

The defendant became upset and started to argue and was told to get out of the premises with his dog. Hardman stormed off into the kitchen where he was then seen to cause damage to two doors.

Hardman was said to be a man without previous convictions and he admitted an argument with his father had escalated but said his father had punched him and he had punched back.
