CLAIMS that Bolton-born Danny Jones is about to leave chart topping band McFly to go solo have been dismissed.

The revelation that Danny, aged 19, was to leave the band was reported in Monday's Sun newspaper.

But a spokesman for the band said there was no truth in the rumour.

It was claimed that singer/songwriter Danny, from Bromley Cross, had asked his record company to give him the summer off to concentrate on songwriting. And it was alleged that the request had caused a rift in the group, with bandmates Harry Judd, Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter, worried that Danny may leave and never return.

But William Rice, the band's official spokesman, said: "There is absolutely no truth in that story. Danny loves McFly. He lives with the rest of the band and they are going on tour this autumn. They are also about to start recording their new album."

The four McFly band members are now worth more than £1 million each, thanks to the pop quartets talent for writing their own songs.

Songs such as 'I Wanna Hold You' and 'Five Colours in Her Hair' have resulted in them being among the richest youngsters in UK showbusiness.

The group has sold more than one million albums in the UK and had three No 1 singles. However, it takes up to 18 months for royalties to reach artists, so the McFly boys have yet to see the bulk of their £1 million-plus earnings.

Tickets are now available for the band's 2006 tour, featuring songs from their most recent album Wonderland, which will see them perform at the Manchester Arena on October 6 and 7.
