A DEVELOPMENT in Prestwich has been ordered to open its gates after Bury Council refused planning permission.
Residents at a former nursing home in Scholes Lane had black wrought iron gates erected at the entrance, and applied for planning permission once they were in place. But neighbours protested.
The site includes nine flats, ten houses and 12 garages, and at Tuesdays meeting resident Daniel Gallow said: "The gates will provide protection for the residents and the listed building."
But the retrospective plan was refused. Enforcement action will now secure the removal of the gates or ensure they are always open.
