ANTI-war protesters staged a candlelit vigil at the war memorial in Bury following the death of the 100th British serviceman in Iraq.
A dozen members of Bury Stop the War Coalition took part in the ceremony at the memorial near Bury Parish Church as scores of similar protests were held across the country.
Coalition member Mr Geoff Brown said: We read out the names of the 100 British soldiers and also the names of Iraqis killed.
We had candles, photographs of those killed, songs and prayers.
A newspaper cutting showing photographs of all those killed in the Iraq conflict was placed at the foot of the war memorial.
Bury Stop the War will screen the International Peace Conference video at Bury Adult Education Centre in Haymarket Street on Monday, beginning at 7.30pm.
