THE mother of a 15-year-old girl who attended school less than two per cent of the time has been ordered to do 120 hours of community service.
The teenager is registered at Broad Oak High School, Bury, but between September and November last year she only attended school on two out of 88 occasions.
Her mother, Sandra Robinson, of Alder Avenue, Bury, appeared at Bury Magistrates Court accused of persistently failing to send her daughter to school.
She was ordered to pay £65 prosecution costs as well as carry out the community service.
Speaking after the court case, Bury councillor Maggie Gibb said: "Non-attendance at school for any reason is an important issue that must be treated seriously."
An officer from the council's Youth Offending Team will help Ms Robinson ensure her daughter attends school regularly.
