A MOTORIST had a lucky escape after his car was in collision with a bus shelter.

The driver of a silver Suzuki was turning into Manchester Road, Bury from Gigg Lane when his car was in collision with a white Vauxhall van at 10.30am on Friday.

The Suzuki, travelling towards Whitefield, mounted the pavement and collided with the bus shelter.

No-one was seriously injured. The Suzuki driver managed to free himself before the police arrived and he was taken to Fairfield Hospital with minor injuries.

lBELOW is the scene that faced the owners of a house in Brandlesholme when a burning car ploughed into their garden.

Fire crews were called out just before 1am on Sunday by Garside Hey Road residents. Youths were seen walking away from the vehicle before it burst into flames. Police are investigating.
