CONSERVATIVE MP Ann Widdecombe swapped hectic Westminster for relaxed Ramsbottom Civic Hall to talk about her life as a politician and author.
Ms Widdecombe was special guest at a sell-out dinner to boost funds for Tottington Village Hall at St Anne's Church.
The MP addressed 150 people, charting her life as a politician and penning four novels in the last five years, with plenty of amusing anecdotes thrown in.
Audience member Gill Leach said: "It went very well, an excellent, lighthearted evening. She addressed every table and spoke to everyone individually. We raised £2,000 for the village hall."
Ms Widdecombe was thanked with a rose ball, a bottle of beer, and a black pudding.
