THROUGH the media we are made to believe we cannot afford some drugs for possible life saving treatment, criteria is fixed as to whether you are suitable or not: Herceptin being one of them for the treatment of breast cancer.

I am speaking as one who lost a young mother to cancer and lost two very young sisters to breast cancer.

I have Crohns disease, which is debilitating in various degrees for the many that suffer with it. There is a good treatment but it costs £1,000 a time every eight weeks. I know there are many other people out there with similar stories.

On the other hand, we have banks, petrochemical companies that have made billions of pounds of profit. And how did they all make their millions? Through you and me.

I am not knocking the best health service in the world, in fact I would like thank the team, especially my specialist Dr G Lipscombe who quite frankly, in my view, works his socks off.
