RADCLIFFE Boro manager Kevin Glendon has stepped down from his full-time post with the club with immediate effect.

Chairman Bernard Manning jnr explained on the club's official website: "The decision is based on the full-time post he had with us in running certain areas of the club - not the football manager aspects, although we have yet to discuss this area.

"It was a difficult decision for both Kevin and I to make. After all is said and done, it is his living.

"However he felt it would be in the best of interests of the club and himself to leave this post and has made plans to create other avenues of work linked to his experience and expertise in this field, which we will obviously need to tap into and use in the future.

"For me, the worry is that Kevin has provided and overseen all our income, commercial and grant work and has brought many important contacts to the club, along with £500,000 in grants.

"I did say it is time to change the structure of the club overall and how it is run.

"It is a lot bigger than people think and involves a number of areas other clubs do not have and with that comes costs - and decisions need to be made if we need to continue with certain aspects, buildings, schemes and facilities at the club."

The chairman pointed out whilst the club will be relieved of the salary related to Glendon they also have nobody to bring in the money required to run the club and the decision is based on Kevin initially still helping out.

"I have asked Kevin to still work on projects and commercial activities at the club but only on a commission basis, which is no risk to us in terms of paying monies out, but a problem if Kevin is overloaded in his new projects and we have no monies coming in.

"However, I believe that will not happen at the moment and there is nobody better to do this work on that type of agreement than Kevin due to his contacts over the years. However he is also going to work at other companies and clubs to supplement his earnings."

Having resigned from the board, and now leaving the club in the role he has had for the past 10 years, Kevin Glendon said: "It is obviously a wrench to leave and it has been a big part of my working life and I have enjoyed it.

"As with the decision about resigning from the board, I feel the decision made is the right one for the club overall at this moment in time, especially with the current changes due to take place in the future.

"This decision will allow me to concentrate on my new work, which initially as I have promised Bernard will still give me the contact with the club behind the scenes in organising their fund-raising events and commercial work, but will allow me to create other avenues of work at other clubs and companies to make a living.

"I feel over the years I have contributed to all of the developments at the club and can feel proud of the initiatives and developments that have taken place and have worked hard in that time to create a better football club and a club others respect."
