A MAN was driven around in his own car and forced to withdraw money from cash machines by thieves during a two-hour ordeal.

The 59-year-old was grabbed in Woodhill Road, Bury, by two men and ordered into his Mercedes.

He was driven around North Manchester and told to withdraw cash from a number of cash machines.

The ordeal began at 7.30pm on January 31, when the man, who has not been named, was grabbed and driven along Crostons Road to the Tesco supermarket in Peel Way, where an attempt by the two men to withdraw money failed.

He was then taken to a HSBC cash machine in Rochdale Road, Middleton.

The man was eventually driven to Ten Acre Lane in Newton Heath at approximately 9.30pm, where the two offenders got out of the car and ran off.

Det Insp Simon Collier, of Whitefield CID, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim.

"Although no weapons were seen and the man was not injured, he was left very shaken by the incident.

"We are also anxious to speak to a woman who was at the cash machine because she may be able to assist the investigation."

The first offender was white, aged 25, of slim to medium build, 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a baseball cap and a black bomber jacket.

His accomplice was also white, similar build, aged between 25 and 30 and 5ft 8in.

He was also wearing a black bomber jacket and a baseball cap.
