BOLTON North-east MP David Crausby has added his support to a campaign hoping to highlight the role of the country's carers.
Mr Crausby is backing the ITV Who Cares? campaign, which is championing the people who care for their sick, elderly or disabled relatives, partners or friends.
He said: "Despite the work already undertaken to support carers, many still face huge challenges, especially if they are trying to combine work and caring.
"While carers save the country £57 billion a year, some can face poverty themselves as a result of their commitments.
"I am calling for a champion within the government to help tackle some of the problems faced by carers.
"Too many of the country's carers are finding life difficult and we need to find ways of supporting them more effectively."
