A MAN refused entry to a town centre club used foul and aggressive language, a court heard.

It earned Stephen Hodgson a spell in a police cell and an appearance before Bury magistrates accused of public disorder.

Hodgson (25), of Sussex Drive, Redvales, Bury, admitted the charge and was fined £100 with £45 court costs.

Mrs Jacqueline Stott, prosecuting, said officers in a marked police vehicle in Silver Street saw Hodgson arguing with bouncers outside a bar. They approached him and he was clearly drunk. Hodgson told the officers the doormen would not let him enter to retrieve his coat. He repeatedly used foul language, and despite being warned, continued in the same vein of behaviour until he was arrested.

Hodgson told the bench: "I have to apologise. I went to a birthday party and began drinking, which I should not have done because I'm on tablets. That's why I was in such a state."
