A LIFELONG Bolton Wanderers' fan who was abusive to police at a match escaped a football ban because of his unblemished previous record.
But magistrates said if they had been able to ban Gary Parker for a few matches, instead of the minimum three-year disqualification, they would have done so.
Parker, aged 21, of Laxford Grove, Bolton, pleaded guilty to being drunk at Ewood Park during the game against Blackburn in January. He was fined £150 with £55 costs by Blackburn Magistrates.
Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said Parker was abusive to police and threw a pint of beer on the floor in front of them.
She said he was clearly drunk and after being arrested, had to be handcuffed while he was being taken to the custody office.
Adam Whittaker, defending, said: "He has been watching them home and away for many years and has never been involved in any kind of trouble."
