A SPECIAL kit is being used to make sure children are not disguising alcohol in soft drink cans or bottles.
Greater Manchester Police is one of the first forces in the country to use the test which can detect tiny traces of alcohol.
Youngsters in Ramsbottom will be among those targeted by Bury police.
The test works using a small cardboard dip stick on to which a sample of a drink is poured. It turns blue if alcohol is present.
PC Helen Tildesley, licensing officer for Bury police, said: "This new testing kit promises to be a real help in our fight to stop illegal drinking and the anti-social behaviour that can be the result of it."
