The nation's eyes, well 9 million or so pairs if last week is anything to go by, will once again be turned on the three men vying for Downing Street tonight.

The second of the three historic TV debates will be going out live on Sky News and I am sure it will be a completely different affair to last week's lukewarm opening.

I expect Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg to perform well again but I don't think the Prime Minister Gordon Brown or Conservative leader David Cameron will be as restrained this time around.

Other than Clegg, the other two looked a little uncomfortable with the whole format but with the volcanic ash cloud restricting air travel (a politician's favourite mode) they will have had plenty of time to fine tune their tactics for tonight.

I also expect the always-impressive Adam Boulton to be a lot more ofay with what is happening and I am sure he will have learned a thing or two from Alistair Stewart who stuck a little too rigidly to the rules a week ago.

Foreign affairs is the topic up for discussion so plenty of questions about Third World aid, troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and our relationship with America should make for explosive viewing.

I just hope fatigue doesn't set in among those watching across the country because while the first debates are decent knock-abouts, next week's final debate on the economy will be the big one.

I'll be tweeting throughout the debate tonight and will again be putting a short analysis piece straight after the cameras stop rolling.
