A PEDESTRIAN was knocked down by a hitand- run driver, a court heard.
Rob Berry was hit by a reversing car in Elmfield Street, Astley Bridge, and was knocked into the air, landed on the boot and fell to the ground.
Uwais Komal, aged 19, was driving the car and panicked and drove off on April 12.
A witness took down the registration number, and a passing police car was flagged down.
An ambulance was called for Mr Berry, who had pains in his hip and leg. Police visited Komal at his address in Astley Street, Halliwell, and he was arrested.
He did not appear at Bolton Magistrates’ Court yesterday, but pleaded guilty to failing to stop at an accident, failing to report an accident and driving without due care and attention in a letter.
He wrote: “This was a mistake on my behalf and this recklessness will never be done again in future.”
Magistrates fined him £215 and his licence will be endorsed with five penalty points.
