PRESTWICH wrestler Myroslav Dykun has told of his delight at landing Commonwealth Games gold in the Greco-Roman wrestling 66kg class.
Dykun beat Indian Sunil Kumar 5-0 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Delhi before pinning the shoulders of Canadan Jack Bond to the floor in 40 seconds, claiming Engalnd’s first Commonwealth wrestling gold since the Edinburgh Games in 1986.
“I feel great,” said Dykun. “I knew I had a chance here because I had such a good training camp in Russia before coming out.
“Everything has gone so well. I can now look forward to London 2012.”
The 27-year-old moved to England from the Ukraine seven years ago and has two British championships to his name.
