A GAMBLING addict stole electrical items from his employer and sold them on eBay, a court heard.
Paul Chatfield, aged 30, admitted taking £6,000 worth of equipment from Edmundson Electrical in Lever Street, Bolton.
Manager Nicholas Hope noticed items were showing on the computer as being in stock, but were missing from the warehouse.
The alarm logs were checked, and it was discovered Chatfield had been in the warehouse on 30 occasions when he should not have been.
Chatfield, of Hillside Avenue, Farnworth, was off sick at the time, in August, 2008, and the company was unable to contact him.
The matter was reported to the police and he was found in May the following year.
He admitted to the thefts at Bolton Crown Court yesterday.
Judge Steven Everett gave him a fivemonth sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to complete 150 hours unpaid work and go on the New Direction activity programme
