Answers on a postcard — what on earth is going on in Fabio Capello’s head?

If anything, Kevin Davies’s form has improved since the striker won his first England cap last month.

Capello was there to witness his demolition of Spurs last week AND he was at Molineux on Saturday to see another fine display which included a superb through ball in the build up to Stuart Holden’s winner.

So can someone please explain why Davies isn’t in the squad?

It was puzzling enough when the Wanderers captain wasn’t named in Capello’s original selection — but the mind boggles at his decision to draft in misfiring Carlton Cole as cover for the injured Andy Carroll.

Davies — not exactly known for goal scoring himself — has netted more times in the Premier League this season than Cole, Crouch and Agbonlahor put together.

Robbie Savage, an excellent pundit on the BBC and still plying his trade for Derby in the Championship, got it right when he wrote on his Twitter page, “I've stuck up for Capello in the past but he's lost the plot! No idea whatsoever!”

The combative midfielder also sent Davies a message saying, “Mate, what a joke you’re not in the squad.”

But then, as one Wanderers fan pointed out on Wanderers’ unofficial Facebook page, at least Davies will be fit and raring to go against Newcastle United next Saturday.

Here's hoping Super Kev can show Capello what he's missing out on when he goes head-to-head with Carroll against the Magpies.

Newcastle have been on good form this season and I reckon it will be a cracking match.

With Carroll and former Wanderer Kevin Nolan, they have become a very tough team to play against.

It will be good to see Nolan back at the Reebok — I hope he's given a good reception by the fans.

He was a great servant to the club and deserves a lot of credit for the part he played in those early Premier League years.

Having said that, I hope he has an off-day next weekend.

Come on you Whites!
