ONE of Bolton’s bestknown dance music stars claims he has been the victim of false allegations after he was arrested in connection with an assault on a 25-year-old woman.

Kurtis Chadwick, also known as MC Viper from the Blackout Crew, was arrested by police investigating an alleged assault in Bolton’s Ikon club on Sunday morning.

Police were called after the woman suffered a head injury when a bottle was hurled across the dancefloor.

Mr Chadwick was arrested and bailed pending further inquires.

But he maintains he has been the victim of a false allegation from a man he had earlier had a dispute with inside the club.

Mr Chadwick, aged 21, from Radcliffe, said he was not even in the club at the time of the alleged incident.

He said: “This lad has given my name to the police. I was not even there at the time. I had been at home for half an hour.”

Mr Chadwick said it would be stupid for him to do anything like that because he is a recognisable face in the town.

“I would not even do anything like that. It’s ridiculous,”

he said.

A police spokesman said: “Between 3.45am and 4.15pm on Sunday, a 25-year-old woman suffered a minor head injury when she was hit by an object thrown in Ikon nightclub.

“A 21-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault and bailed until December 19.

Inquiries are continuing.”

The Blackout Crew was formed by members of the Harmony Youth Project, which helps take youngsters off the streets by giving them the chance to create music, make films and learn to dance and sing.

The Blackout Crew is the project’s biggest success so far and are considered pioneers of a rap-dance fusion known as “donk”, who took the charts by storm with Bbbbounce and Put A Donk On It.

Bbbbbounce was the most requested song in the history of Clubland TV and topped the Fizz music channel chart for two months. It was a big hit on the MTV video channel.

The group’s videos have been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube and they have created the music for cult TV adverts for Pot Noodle.
