GRETAR Steinsson is desperate to help Wanderers reach Wembley – even though he has no idea where it is.

Owen Coyle’s men take on Birmingham at St Andrews on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

With the semi-finals also at the national stadium, the Icelandic defender is within 90 minutes of playing at the famous London ground.

But Steinsson, pictured, claims someone will have to give him directions. “I have never been there. I don't even know where it is,” said the full back, who remembers watching Bolton lose 2-1 to Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup final in 2004 on television.

“The closer you get to Wembley the more excited you are.

“It would be fantastic to be part of that. I watched the game the last time Bolton went to Wembley.

“But you just don’t want to get there, you want to go and win.”

Steinsson returned from injury in Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 victory against Aston Villa.

It was his first appearance since January 24 – and only his third since early November – after struggling with a persistent knee problem.

And, with seventh-placed Wanderers chasing a Europa League spot, the 29-year-old is delighted to be back.

He said: “It was good to be back with the boys and I look forward to the rest of the season.

"It was stop-start around Christmas until now with injuries. But it's more enjoyable when we are doing well instead of scrapping at the bottom of the table.

"There is just such great belief in the team and how things are going.

“I felt confident at 2-1 we would come back. It was one of those afternoons when you had incredible belief that you just weren't going to lose.

“We have tremendous belief in each other, our fans are backing us and we believe anything is possible.

"We can move this club even further. When it goes so well, you just want more. We have to be optimistic but we can't get too carried away.

"A couple of bad results and you are back in it. So, we have to enjoy it while we can.”

Wanderers reserves will look to stretch their five-game unbeaten run against Chelsea at Leyland’s County Ground tonight.
