CORONATION Street stars Simon Gregson and Beverley Callard have signed up to the One Bolton pledge to support the concept of Bolton as a welcoming town.

The stars, who play Steve and Liz McDonald, were in Bolton shooting scenes for the soap, which will be screened at the end of March.

They were happy to take time out of their busy schedules to support One Bolton.

The One Bolton pledge celebrates the diversity of the town and says: “We celebrate the diversity of Bolton and unite to create One Bolton, recognising differences, celebrating communities and commit to encouraging harmony.” The pledge is directly linked to the Big Bolton Fund (BBF) and encourages supporters of One Bolton to pledge money to the fund, which in turn will be used to support local community programmes across the borough.

Simon said: “This is a great idea and it should happen everywhere. Bolton is a beautiful town, with lovely architecture and brilliant people.”

Beverley added: “I think the pledge is fantastic. Living in harmony is more important than anything. I used to live in Bolton and I loved it, so am delighted to support this pledge.”
