SIBLING rivalry spiced up the Open Cup second round clash between Brindley Arms and Cyns Tavern with three Porter brothers involved.

In the event it was Brindley’s Ryan Porter who won the family bragging rights against the side of his two other brothers by bagging a brace in a 9-2 win for his side.

Along with his goals there a hattrick for John Smith, two each from Gas Ingram and Jake Hardman while Dillon Ross got both for Brindley.

Meanwhile, Farnworth Canary beat Premier Division leaders Hulton Lane 2-0 with the two Matties, Crook and Carter, both on target.

Smokies scraped home with a 2-1 win over Merehall, thanks to a goal each from Chris Hays and Jason Rayner. Deane beat Yew Tree Craig Hall hitting a hat-trick.

Market Street Tavern also won 2-1, beating Flying Shuttle with goals for Liam Wilson and Grant Deane.

Horwich Town and Mortfield Bowlers shared 15 goals between them, the Bowlers winning 10-5.

Andy Knowles got a hat-trick, and Nathan Bridge a brace.

For Town there was a brace each for Ken Baines and Lee McGreavey.

Darcy Lever beat T&S Northwest 4-3 with goals from Paul Lomax (two), Aron McMastery and Lee Stuart.

In only a handful of league fixtures to go ahead, Division One Halliwell Claremont beat Moses Gate 4-2, with two from Nathan Houson, one each for Phil Marland and John Airey.

Morris Dancers joined Great Lever at the top of Division Two after a 4-0 win at FC Newbury. Dave Bretherton (two), the Gregory boys, Nick and John, grabbed one each.

Great Lever Queen Lizzy beat Breightmet Wanderes 2-1 with a brace from Mark Truffers, while Danny Lomax was on target for Breightmet.
