TEMPEST United will rely on their home form to stave off relegation from the Premier Division.

The Chew Moor-based men are deep in trouble second bottom of the table, but they have six straight home games following this weekend’s trip to Fulwood, including a number of the teams around them at the bottom.

But their first priority is to cut out the defensive lapses which again cost them dear in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at fifthplaced Euxton Villa.

Tempest were 3-0 down after just 20 minutes before Jonathan Shacklady completed the day’s scoring five minutes later when he burst out of defence and kept on running until he smashed in a shot from the edge of the box.

Eagley went down to an 80thminute winner for Thornton Cleveleys which hit their hopes of finishing in the top five.

The Dunscar men dropped to ninth and will rue the fact that had they won they would have been level on points with Thornton who are now fourth.

Eagley were a goal behind at half-time, but the home side’s centre half Chris Benson restored parity early in the second half when he bundled the ball over the line following a corner.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until the Eagley wall parted to allow a free kick from the edge of the box to find its way into the corner of the net.

Eagley are away to bottom club Dalton on Saturday.

Superior finishing was the difference in Stoneclough’s 4-2 home defeat to second-placed Charnock Richard. Nicky Fisher put the finishing touch to a quality five-man move to send the sides in level at halftime.

The high-flying visitors stepped up a gear after the break, but it took two long balls and moments of slack marking to split the sides as Charnock went 4-1 up before the in-form Christian Bansko headed home five minutes from time from Mark Callow’s free kick.

First Division Turton were denied three points when they conceded a last-minute goal in a 2-2 draw at sixth-placed Longridge Town.

Adam Street and Adam Howarth scored Turton’s goals.
