BOLTON’S industrial past is the inspiration for a new exhibition at the Neoartists’ gallery, in Corporation Street.
The solo show by Margaret Jackson is titled “Works”, a word which Margaret saw graffiitied on the wall of Hick Hargreaves, in Bolton town centre, before it was demolished and replaced with a Sainsbury’s supermarket.
The paintings, drawings and prints in “Works” are themes developed from Margaret’s 2003 exhibition “Rags and Old Iron”, and are both a memorial to the industries that sustained generations of Bolton families, and a challenge to current attitudes towards work.
The exhibition opens on March 11, and will run until April 2. The Corporation Street gallery is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
