BOLTON U8 5 LEIGH 5 AGAIN, the U8 game was as close an affair as the U7 game earlier, but with one small difference, these were two sets of players ready for the contact version of the sport next year.

As these young people develop it is clear they all want to play rugby.

Quick passing, close support play and an awareness of their physicality were the hallmarks of good rugby.

With two very even halves, both sides competed well. Special mention must go to Jake Rimmer, Henry Bolton and James Sharples.

Fiercely competitive, supportive and respectful of their opposition, they are a credit to Bolton Rugby.

Each scored good tries in a close match and were equally encouraging of their opposite numbers.

B have had taster sessions these last three weeks and have recruited some new players across a number of teams.

We always look for new players and would ask if anyone wants to give us a ‘try’ then send an e-mail to juniorchairman@boltonrugby.co.uk or juniorsecretary@boltonrugby.co.uk and we’ll let you know when we are next at home for you to come down.

U13 Lancashire Plate Quarter Final WATERLOO 30+ BOLTON 14 IN an exciting and enjoyable match where the score didn’t really do them justice all the U13 squad played their hearts over at Blundellsands.

While Waterloo were deserved winners of this cup clash all the Bolton lads can take great heart from a performance that saw them get better and better as the game went on.

Wills Brindle was the pick of the crop for a series of barnstorming runs which he crowned with a charge from over 50m through nearly all the home defenders to score in the corner.

However, this was bettered by a slick series of close inter-passing by Wills and Max Lothan just moments later, Will McCambridge then burst a full 25m from a tap penalty to the shadow of the posts where the ever supporting Joey Gore snatched the recycled ball and wriggled over.

Tom Hill converted both tries. James Hind, Tom McCormick and Harry Stocks also shone throughout. Brilliant rugby boys; well played!

Bolton U14 Travelled to Aldwinians with 22 players to play QF in the vase plate, ALDWINIANS 0 BOLTON 30+ BOLTON started off very strong and within five minutes William Lomax got the first try, Bolton carried on playing at a fantastic pace, and the tries just kept on coming.

Great foward work by all the pack and excellent running and fast moves by the backs, during the game some players scored their first tries for Bolton including, Daniel Naughton x2 and Jakub Thornley, and first game back for George Wilkes.

The Scrums were well controlled and all won by hooker and team captian Louis Townsend who is also selected and plays for the Manchester district. Bolton completely domained the game and the final score reflects how hard they played as a team.

BOLTON U19 9 ASHTON-ON-MERSEY 12 THE U19 played Ashton-on-Mersey in a well fought encounter where both teams played some excellent rugby and were both a credit to their coaches and clubs.

Bolton took an early lead but Ashton came back well to snatch the victory and go through into the plate competition while Bolton will now compete in the Vase.

Both the Ashton and Bolton teams played well and it was a game played in the true spirit of rugby with both sets of coaches and supporters getting on really well and enjoying the good rugby played by both sides.

All those involved agreed that it was such a pity that there had to be a winner and loser in this encounter.
