THAMESMEAD southpaw Ryan Barrett will be the opponent for Amir Khan's ninth professional fight when the Olympic silver medallist returns home to Bolton on September 2.

The 23-year-old Barrett boasts a 12-2-1 record with only three of his wins coming inside the distance, although he did stop Anthony Christopher in round one in May last year.

His best win was on points against Peter McDonagh over eight rounds.

He lost to prospect Martin Watson over 10 rounds at York Hall in April and last time out he beat former Khan foe, Baz Carey, over six rounds.

Khan eased to a second-round stoppage win over out-classed Scot Colin Bain in his last fight at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff last month.

And he will be eager to show his home-town fans at how much he has improved since his last fight at the Bolton Arena -his professional debut win over David Bailey in July last year.

The bill is topped by Clinton Woods' IBF light-heavyweight title defence against Jamaican Glen Johnson, and also includes a WBA light-welterweight title fight between Souleymane M'baye and Raul Balbi.

There are only a limited number of tickets left. Tickets are £40, £50, £75 £100 with all the £150, £200 and ringside tickets sold out. To purchase tickets ring 01204 535332.
