LOVE, Eat, Live—what a great mantra, I agree!

When I think of Giraffe I think of delicious burgers — the only time I have ever visited a branch in London I had just that.

My husband and I were off to the Trafford Centre for some shopping and decided to eat there first. We were spoilt for choice, but Giraffe caught our eye with its brightly coloured décor, and with memories of scrumptious burgers in we went.

We were immediately shown a table in the “outdoor” section and there was a good buzz, with a few diners about.

We fancied a Greek-type starter, so went for the mezze plate with warm naan, £7.95, to share. We could have had other platters, such as wedges and nachos, or gone for individual dishes like chicken, soup or prawns, ranging from £2.65- £12.95.

The dish was packed and looked appealing. We tucked in and soon demolished it, enjoying dips, vegetables, the bread, salad and halloumi.

Every element was delicious, perfect portions and complementing each other — a brilliant start.

From the mains, which range from burgers, oriental dishes, Mexican dishes, salads and more (around £7- 15), we, of course, went for burgers!

I kept with the Greek theme and opted for the The Big Greek Lamb Focaccia Burger (£9.95), with my preference of no feta cheese no problem. It was scrumptious — the meat was tender, the toppings (red pepper, tzatziki, tomato relish and salad) went perfectly and the bread was yummy. And the fries, with skin on, were delicious — crispy and tasty.

My husband went for the 100 per cent beef burger, (£9.25), which he found very tasty, again packed with toppings — salad, pickle, mayo and relish, but he also had cheese and bacon. He loved the fries too.

The desserts sounded delicious — we’d looked at these before we ordered — and we were determined to fit one in. In the end we selected the rocky road ice-cream sundae (£5.65), irresistible! It was chocolate and vanilla ice cream, marshmallows, chocolate brownie and hot chocolate sauce, an amazing combination.

We opted to share and battled it out to get our spoons in as it was just mouth-watering, the perfect end to a lovely meal. Other options included crumble, cheesecake, pudding and sorbet.

The environment and atmosphere were nice, relaxed with a good buzz, and the service was fine, just slacked a bit as it got busy. The bill came to £43.23 (with a 10 per cent service charge), which wasn’t bad at all.
