SOME might expect Karen Wolfendale to be sick as a dog.

For the adrenaline junkie will wear a dog suit while riding Europe’s longest rollercoaster for five hours continuously.

The 30-year-old decided to do the crazy challenge to raise money for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

It takes place on Sunday at Lightwater Valley theme park in Ripon, North Yorkshire.

She will ride in the front seat of The Ultimate, the second longest rollercoaster in the world, which the theme park bosses have reserved for her.

Miss Wolfendale, from Horwich, said: “I have always loved rollercoasters so I think this is a fantastic opportunity to something a bit different and have some fun whilst raising vital funds for the charity.

“I have not been on this rollercoaster before. I am a fan of rides, but I might not be by the end of the challenge.

“I am wearing the dog suit to attract a bit of attention and hope it will encourage people to donate because it is a great charity.”

Each lap lasts for five to six minutes, so she is hoping she will complete the ride about 50 times.

Miss Wolfendale, who works as an administrator for a debt management firm, wants to raise £1,000.

She is taking friends and family along for support on the day, including her 10-yearold son Matthew.

Miss Wolfendale added: “Matthew is hoping to go on the ride a few times and is supporting me, although he thinks I am a bit crazy.”

Peter Emmett, from Guide Dogs Events Team, added: “It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each guide dog partnership and as the charity relies on voluntary donations to fund its services, every penny raised will make a huge difference to blind and partially sighted people.”

Miss Wolfendale is part of a team, the Wolf- Pack, which needs to raise £2,500 to take part in the Coniston Adventure Team Challenge in September.

It is a triathlon involving hiking, cycling and canoeing.
