A TEENAGE girl was left with serious facial injuries after being attacked in the street.

The attack on the 18-yearold Bury College student happened in Market Street, Bury, shortly before 2.50pm yesterday.

Police were called to the college’s Woodbury Centre, Market Street, to investigate.

They discovered a girl had been assaulted at a nearby subway.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said the girl was stabbed or slashed in the face.

A college spokesman said: “Bury College is aware that a student has been injured in Bury town centre.

“The incident took place at an underpass. College staff went immediately to help the injured student.

“The student is currently being cared for at the hospital. The police are dealing with the incident.

“The other person involved is not a college student.”

A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault and was last night in police custody.
