MUCH of the material on this week’s page was written as I sat on the sofa watching Test Match cricket on television.

Please forgive the hypocrisy as I recommend a campaign by NHS Bolton, the town’s primary care trust.

Get Up, Get Out, Get Active is an initiative to encourage Bolton people to indulge in exercise. It is a very good idea and everybody should have a go. Me too, I suppose.

Anna Roberts, the initiative co-ordinator, says: “People have many distractions in their life which can mean they have little time for physical activity. By giving people that little bit of a push, we can get them off the sofa and on to a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle.”

I’ll think about it later.
