NIGEL Reo-Coker has urged Owen Coyle’s new look squad to pull themselves together.

After three consecutive defeats against Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United, Wanderers head into this weekend’s game against Norwich searching for a pick-me-up, and in the unaccustomed position of favourites.

Confidence took a hit in last weekend’s derby mauling, and as such, Reo-Coker believes he and other more experienced members of the dressing room have a key role to play this week to stablise a dressing room yet to settle after eight summer signings.

But the midfielder reckons every member of the camp - established or otherwise - has to analyse their performance at the Reebok last weekend if the team are to produce a response against the Canaries.

"You have got to have that inner strength of character,” he said. “It's not something you can implant on someone. It's a mental thing you must have in you.

"Hopefully, the younger players will get influenced by the senior players. If you look at the goals and the games we have played, we have given away cheap goals. And that goes for everyone.

"In all the games we have had good spells and good chances. We are not that far off. It's the silly errors that we need to get out of our game.

"You would rather have this situation at the start of the season rather than the end when it could be more costly."

Coyle has hinted he will make changes, with new signing Tuncay and David Ngog and returning midfielder Stuart Holden all given a run out in the reserve team’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday night to asses their match sharpness.

But Reo-Coker is reluctant to put undue emphasis on the weekend’s clash with newly-promoted Norwich.

“It's still early in the league, we are still gelling together,” he said. “I have`watched the league for years and Everton and they have always been bad starters. But then they seem to pick it up around Christmas and finish in the top eight.

"It's been a difficult start and we have got to learn from these games. We have got to believe in the strength and character we have in the squad that we didn't show against United.

"The Norwich game is a big one, but it's still very early.”
