PAUL Lambert expects the real Bolton Wanderers to stand up at the Reebok this afternoon.

The Norwich City boss reckons the Whites will be out to prove a point after shipping 11 goals in their last three games against Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.

“You would think there’s going to be some sort of reaction,” he said. “I’m not going up there thinking that Bolton are going to be lying down or anything like that.

“They’ll come out of the traps and the crowd will come expecting it. I’m sure Owen will expect a reaction from them. I know that’s something we have to withstand.”

Lambert does have some sympathy for Wanderers’ daunting early season fixture schedule, which continues next week with a trip to Arsenal, followed by a home game against Chelsea.

“If you look at the teams they’ve played, the two Manchester clubs are vying for the league and in European competitions,” he said. “Liverpool are going really well under Kenny Dalglish so it’s not a disgrace when you’re getting turned over by that calibre of team, that’s for sure.”

Lambert is hoping to follow Coyle’s lead in the Premier League after guiding the Canaries to successive promotions in the last two years.

“Owen has done great since he’s come down to England,” he said. “He did brilliantly at Burnley and has kept the feeling going at Bolton.

“There are a lot of Scottish lads in the Premier League, but if I can just have a bit of the success that Owen has had I’ll be doing okay.”
