WHEN it comes to buying British, Bolton’s schools are at the top of the table.
School children are more likely to tuck into a meal produced with locally sourced food than anywhere else in Greater Manchester, according to The Countryside Alliance Foundation.
Schools in Bolton used 88 per cent, £2.2 million, of food bought coming from Britain.
The average was just 56 per cent, or £8.5 million of local education authorities food procurement budgets spent on British Produce last year.
