EDUCATION watchdogs have reported “every child really does matter” at Queensbridge Primary School.

The Farnworth school has been ranked as “good with outstanding features” by Ofsted inspectors.

They reported: “This is a good school. It has improved rapidly where several aspects of its work are now outstanding, this is a school where every child really does matter.”

It comes just weeks after Queensbridge rose in the recent primary school performance tables.

Inspectors said the school has “adopted an uncompromising stance on raising achievement through improvements in teaching, assessment and with interventions to help pupils catch up if they fall behind”.

They described the measures as highly successful.

Pupils who enter nursery class with skills that are well below expectations were found to be making good or outstanding progress in their “memorable”

lessons. They also enjoy school and leave reaching the level of schoolchildren across the country — with standards continuing to improve rapidly.

Children with complex special educational needs and disabilities were found to receive “exceptional” support.

Headteacher Christopher Fielding was singled out for praise, the inspectors saying that he “by virtue of his drive energy and passion has, in a relatively short space of time, driven improvements and shared his ambition well”.

They added: “School leaders are justifiably proud of their achievements to date but are not complacent.”

Parents’ feedback to inspectors included: “Queensbridge does not just educate, it nutures.”

The inspectors said: “Good quality plans are in place to develop provision further, with the governing body providing excellent support, advice and challenge at each step of every development.”

Mr Fielding said: “I am very proud of the pastoral work within school. The staff are incredibly hard working, as always, and the school has worked in collaboration with the local authority.

“I am very proud of the pupils, who are a cracking bunch.”
