YOUNG musicians are raising the roof of the Albert Halls everyday this week.

The series of concerts opened in spectacular style on Sunday evening when nearly every seat in the venue was taken.

Performances were given by The Bolton Youth Orchestra; Bolton Junior Concert Band; Bolton Youth Percussion Ensemble; Bolton Youth Flute Choir; Turton Training Choir; Rivington and Turton Junior Strings; The Future Champions Bronze award winner Jacob Smith (Euphonium) and Bolton Youth Symphonic Brass Ensemble.

Last night it was the turn of Bolton Junior Youth Orchestra, Bolton Beginners Percussion Ensemble, Bolton Junior Percussion Ensemble, Little Lever Training Choir, Bolton Youth String Quintet; Soul Patrol; Bolton Intermediate Brass Band; Chimney Pots and Bolton Youth Concert Band.

Performances ranged from modern music scores to 16th century classical music.

Performers included some as young as four, with the oldest ones being 19- years-old.

Head of Bolton Music Service Carolyn Baxendale said: “Lots of tickets have been sold and 38 ensembles will perform across the week.

“The beauty of these concerts is the breadth of music performed. There is almost something for everyone, from 20th century film music to that of the 16th century. The performances are spread across the music genres. It is good for the young ones who see the older ones performing and it spurs them on.”

The concerts end on Thursday evening and there will be a different compere from the music service on everynight.

There are around 1,000 young people across the borough who are on the books of Bolton Music Service.
