CINEMA fans are in for a treat when a film shot in Bolton hits the big screens.

All In Good Time is a comedy based on the play by legendary Bolton playwright Bill Naughton and iis due for its big release on May 11.

Directed by Nigel Cole, the film is based on Ayub Khan-Din’s adaptation of the story, Rafta Rafta, which made its stage debut at the National Theatre in 2007 and was produced at the Octagon in 2010.

It tells the story of young newlyweds, Atul and Vina, for whom married life is proving far from straightforward.

They are forced to set up home with Atul’s parents, and find it difficult to consummate their marriage with his family around.

It was partly filmed in Deane, around Spa Road, as well as in Victoria Square and in Bolton Library and is expected to prove popular with fans of movies such as East Is East.

Reece Ritchie, who plays Atul, and has also starred in The Lovely Bones and Prince of Persia, said: “People who saw the film at a Glasgow screening said everyone can relate to it no matter who they are and the jokes are very laugh-out-loud.

“That’s what I find really warming about the film. Whether people will like it is in the lap of the movie gods, though I’ve seen enough impartial feedback to hope the response will be good.”

Bolton has proved a popular location for film and television directors down the years.

Amara Karan, who plays Vina, said she enjoyed filming in Bolton and now loves the town.

She added: “The first time Reece and I came to Bolton we loved it, especially Victoria Square. It seems such a natural location for this film.”

The film’s director Nigel Cole said: “The situations in the film are believable and powerful.

“They will make you laugh and break your heart.

“It is very rare to go and see a movie when the whole audience is laughing out loud and then you realise later that everyone is reaching for their handkerchiefs. This is one of those films.”

All in Good Time will open on general release on May 11.
