BOLTON’S most wanted criminal was caught, thanks to meticulous record keeping.

Joslyn Seaton, a violent taxi driver robber, was wanted by police after breaching the terms of his indeterminate sentence.

He was tracked down in London after probation officers trawled records and found in 2008 he lived at an address there.

The 26-year-old was given an indeterminate sentence in September, 2005, after being convicted of two violent robberies on taxi drivers in Kearsley and Tonge Moor.

In both, Seaton and a coaccused sat behind the cab driver, pulled the seatbelt tightly around his neck and demanded money before punching the driver several times.

In the second attack, the cab driver was dragged from the taxi and punched and kicked.

Carolyn Smith, head of Bolton probation service, said: “Seaton was re-arrested thanks to some excellent partnership work between my colleagues and police.

“The address in London was raided by police and Seaton was found to be residing there, and was duly re-arrested.

“Thanks to the detailed records my staff kept, and thanks to swift action from the police, this dangerous criminal is now back behind bars and will be so for a longtime to come.

“This outcome means the public is protected.

This would not have happened as quickly if probation records had not been so meticulous, and if police did not work out of the same office.”
