CANCER sufferers and their families can get information about local services on a new Facebook page.

Bolton Cancer Patients and Carers Consultative Group has launched a Facebook page where people can find out about services, support and treatment options.

Links include information about a new Breast Care Support Group, results of how the Royal Bolton Hospital performed in the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey 2010, support for carers and information about the National Cancer Screening Programme.

Karen Elliott, chairman of Bolton Cancer Patients and Carers Consultative Group, said: “It is not intended to be a source of expert advice, it is simply our way of trying to help people to negotiate their way around some of the vast amount of information out there for cancer patients, their families and members of the public.”

The group meets every second month and aims to ensure cancer patients in Bolton receive the best care. Anyone affected by cancer as a patient or carer currently or in the past is eligible to join.
