BOLTON singer Amy-Lou Aldred can honestly say she is “big in Japan” after reaching number two in the country’s dance chart.

The 22 year-old’s latest single, Bedroom, which features the rapper Pitbull, has become a surprise hit in the country.

“It went straight in at number 13, then after 24 hours jumped to number three, then to number two, where it has been for the last 12 days,” said Amy-Lou, pictured right, who performs under the stage name Redd.

“When I saw it on Twitter I thought Seriously, this is crazy! It’s a big market, so to crack somewhere like that is amazing.”

The singer, from Edgworth, is now planning live dates in Japan, and is also singing at both the Blackpool and Manchester Pride events.

“It’s a pretty big deal, I’m very excited,” she said.

“Blackpool Pride is one of the biggest festivals in the North West.

“We’re also trying to push for some of the big summer festivals.”

Amy-Lou, who was a student at Canon Slade High School, Bradshaw, and the University of Bolton, made it through to The X Factor bootcamp in 2010.

Her first single, I’m Day Dreaming, featured Akon and Snoop Dogg, and she has hinted at another big collaboration in the near future, although the details are being kept strictly under wraps.

“I’m in talks for a third project which is very exciting but I can’t give anything away,” she said.

“It’s another big feature artist, but I can’t say any more than that.”

The video for Bedroom was shot in Milan, and Amy-Lou is set to return to the city for the single’s official Italian launch.
