A DEDICATED social worker who lost her battle against cancer has been honoured at the school where she was a governor.

Christine Partington, aged 66, helped thousands of young people when she worked as a volunteer with the Wellfield Project in Deane.

She died of cancer in February.

And now Brandwood School in Daubhill, where she worked as a cook and was later a governor for 20 years, has unveiled a plaque in her memory Two mosaics, created by former girls from Brandwood School, who were mentored by Mrs Partington, have also been unveiled next to the plaque.

Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Noel Spencer, was also at the unveiling because he was a friend of Mrs Partington’s.
