THE story of how the Bolton and Bury Junior League is the blueprint for the future of English football continued to receive widespread backing yesterday.
The Bolton News reported on Tuesday how the local league, which provides football for 7,000 youngsters, has for years adopted the small-sided games policy that the FA recently ruled to become compulsory throughout the country in the next few years.
The Football Association held up the BBJFL as an example of how the country can produce better players for England teams of the future.
Nick Levett, the FA’s national development manager for youth football, gave his approval of our story, tweeting: “Well done” and copying the link to the story for his followers to read.
The Wales national team assistant coach, Osian Roberts, tweeted: “Glad more Junior Leagues are moving this way and a good news story. Surely the way forward. Well done!”
