UNIVERSITY of Bolton graphic design students Emma Benyon and Sarah Joyce have been using their creative powers to help raise awareness of domestic violence in St Helens.

St Helens Council is using the pair’s Break Free From Domestic Violence campaign to engage young people and make them aware of the issue.

The joint venture between the university and council began with programme leader Carol Allison offering the university’s design services to the council.

She said: ‘It was a win-win situation all around. The council got its pick from high-quality, professional designs and my students got to work on a live brief with a real client with real specs.”

Emma said: “I have learned so much. It’s not only good for my portfolio, but the practical skills I have been learning are something you can’t get in the classroom.”
