THERE is still time for youngsters to put their best foot forward and follow in the footsteps of Ironman — by becoming IronKids.

To celebrate “Bolton’s Year of Sport 2012”, children are being invited to take part in a run in the town centre on Saturday, July 21, the day before the Ironman UK event.

It is open to youngsters aged three to 15 with different distances depending on the child’s age. Three to five years will compete in a 500m run accompanied by a parent or guardian; six to 10 years in a 1.5km run, and 11 to 15 years in a 2.5 km run.

IronKids is designed to inspire and motivate youths through sport, to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. To enter, parents or guardians need to complete an entry form at ironmanuk.com or collect a form from Bolton Council’s One Stop Shop or the council’s Sports and Active Living Unit, 3rd floor Paderborn House.

Forms are also available from Bolton lads and girls club, Bolton Arena and local leisure centres.

The entry fee is £2 per child or £2.20 online.

Every child will receive a special commemorative IronKids T-shirt and medal.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Wednesday, July 18.
