A NUMBER of meetings for Bolton Council staff to discuss the government’s latest pension offer are taking place this week.

Members of Bolton Unison are being asked to attend the meetings to find out about the proposals.

There are two meetings today between 12.30pm and 2pm at the Council Chambers in Horwich Public Hall, and between 4.30pm and 5.30pm in the Carnegie Hall, in Westhoughton Town Hall.

Tomorrow there are four meetings — between 7am and 7.30am at Wellington Yard Canteen, between 7.30am and 8am at the Highways Canteen in Mayor Street, between 12pm and 1pm in the Lancaster Suite in Bolton Town Hall, and between 4.30om and 5.30pm in the Lancaster Suite in Bolton Town Hall. On Monday, July 9, there will be meetings from 12pm to 1pm, and 4.30pm to 5.30pm at the Lancaster Suite, in Bolton Town Hall.

There will also be a meeting on Thursday, July 12, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm in Room 146, in Castle Hill Centre.

Separate meeting dates are being organised for Unison members within Bolton at Home.

Matt Kilsby, branch chairman, said: “There is no doubt the revised proposals mark a significant shift from those put forward last year.

“This shift could not have been achieved without successful strike action. However there is a concern the new proposals do not go far enough.

“During August, Unison members covered by the Local Government Pension Scheme will have their final say on the pension proposals in a postal ballot. We want to ensure everyone understands what is involved and has their say.”
