kids do wander - when we were young ( long time ago) we wandered for miles. We were used to walking long distances and luckily it was safe to do so then - but kids (and confused adults) can and do wander for miles, much to the amazement of their families. You cannot keep your eye on them 100% of the time. The good thing is that the parents noticed his absence and raised the alarm immediately and that word was spread to keep a lookout. I echo the thanks of everyone that he was found safe and well - he will doubtless learn from this, which will be an important lesson for him.

I'm probably an old foggy (at 46!!) and have no great love for social media but it looks to have made a real difference in this case. Thanks to all those who helped find this lad safely.

Thought the same myself as it was all over social media, but also, a car from a private hire company picked me up in the early afternoon and I noticed that they'd sent a message, with a description to all their drivers. I imagine that the bus companies and the likes did similar. A fantastic effort from all involved. Proud to be a Boltonian (sometimes ;-) ) So glad the little fella's turned up safe.
