A BOLTON beauty queen is heading to the USA to take part in one of the country’s most prestigious pageants.

Nicole Jackson, aged 15, has been invited to compete with 50 other girls in America’s Perfect Teen in Florida on August 13.

She is hoping to win the crown, as well as $2,000 cash and an $18,000 scholarship to attend the Connecticut School of Broadcasting after her A-levels.

Nicole, of Alexandra Street, Farnworth, said: “It’s a bit daunting because over here we don’t really know much about pageants, but they take them very seriously in America and they compete from a really young age.”

However, the teenager has no reason to be nervous, having competed herself in pageants from the age of 13 and recently been crowned Miss Teen Face of Europe.

The competition will last four days and include swimwear, evening gown and denim rounds, as well as an interview stage.

“I’m most nervous about the interview,” admitted Nicole. “But that’s the good thing about pageants — they are great for your confidence because you have to get used to speaking about different subjects in public.”

Nicole, who carried the Olympic Torch through Bolton in May, said she would donate the cash to her favourite charities if she won.

The platform and using her beauty as a purpose to be a positive role model is great.Up to carrying the Olympic torch,Running for Charity Visiting Primary Schools. I wouldnt Stop it most children are having babies and drinking on the streets not seeing the world and raising awareness...Carry on Nicole you are great!

I like the way the beauty contests promote Curvy girls.Girls are so under pressure by supermodels to be stick thin which looks awful and leads to all sorts of problems like anorexia and bulimia.I think being 15 isnt a problem as it has shown with Nicole its a great hobby involving charitys and giving girls confidence from a young age!!

From a mothers point of view Nicole leads a 'Fairytale Lifestyle' which any Teenager is going to find hard to aspire from!! Her looks have bought her a Manchester United Player,Numerous Shopping trips and not to mention everything else!!Lets see if she is so charity minded when they are the next Coleen and Wayne Rooney ;)

To have done all that she has at the age of just 15 is incredible and is something that us, as a society, should be encouraging! I'm sure if it was your children achieving things like this then it would be a totally different story..
Would you prefer Nicole to be out on the street drinking and smoking like the majority of youths these days? Didn't think so. If I could get free trips to the USA to part-take in beauty pageants, which are a hell of a lot of fun, then give me 10 seconds to pack my case!

What a shame Thomson34 felt the need to write a comment like this about a 15 year old girl! Nicole is a very beautiful girl but she's also a very kind, considerate and down to earth 15 year old. Maybe it's also these qualities that attracted her 16 year old boyfriend to her!(I'm struggling to understand how you "buy" somebody with your looks?) instead of being negative towards a girl who spends her spare time doing charity work and trying to better herself shouldn't we be congratulating her? So well done Nicole and Good luck to you in everything that you do. Keep working hard and I hope that all of your dreams do come true!

i had to make this account just to comment as i think some of the things that are being said are discusting ! after all nicloe is a 15 year old girl doing something with her life i think thats something to be applauded ! these girls work very hard at representing their home town and country they try to make a difference in the community there not hanging about in parks on a night, they travel up and down the country trying to make a difference ,also these girls raise a lot of money for charity too . I know myself how much these girls go through as my daughter does the same , since she was crowned in her first pageant at age 15 she was bullied terribly all over face book etc and still to this day gets lots of nasty comments from adults too because of her pageants and her modelling ans the way she looks, i begged her to give it up but she wouldnt now she is hopefully going to be following in the footsteps of nicole and the other girls and her modelling has took on another level and im very proud of her for not giving up because of small minded peoples opinions who know nothing of what these girls do ! so nicole hold your head up high and shine like the superstar you are follow your dreams and dont let the haters bring you down .

Your comments are fair.My opinion is still true a lot of girls live in poverty so how can they get around the country if their parents dont drive? How can they afford these fancy dresses? How can they hope to bag a footballer Boyfreind when they arent the typical model Girlfreind with barbie looks? which all the Football Players go for? My daughter can't live up to this lifestyle and I am pretty sure 99 % of the population of 15 year olds can't either.

I haven’t got any problems with what she’s done in regards to Charity work and other stuff like that (TBO I didn’t even know or care like), good on her I’m just saying girls under 16 are far too young to be doing a beauty pageants, e.g. if you saw a young girl on the street in what can only be described as tissue worth of material you’d be like ewww how have her parents let her out like that, yet if it’s on a stage then its ok ?, NO, it’s not ok.
