WANDERERS fans can take a trip back in time when a team of legends takes to the field.

Nine former Bolton players, including present manager Owen Coyle, are set to play in a charity game in aid of three-year-old cancer sufferer Braiden Lee Prescott.

Playing in the match at Atherton LR in Crilly Park, Atherton, will be Mark Winstanley, Tony Kelly, Nicky Spooner, David Lee, Gavin McCann , John McGinlay and Phil Brown.

They will play in the same team as Waterloo Road stars Naveed Chaudhry and Reece Douglas and the four members of The Risk, a band from last year’s series of X-Factor.

Little Braiden is battling a rare form of neuroblastoma and could have just months to live.

His parents, Wayne Prescott and Stephanie Reece, from Leigh, believe his only chance is specialist treatment in America.

This could increase his chances of survival by 25 per cent — but the treatment will cost at least £250,000 and Braiden will need to travel to the US before November.

Dad Wayne said: “He is such a happy little boy and that is what keeps us going.

“I would urge as many people as possible to come down.”

The footballers and celebrities team will play against Samba —a Bolton-based team of semi-professional footballers who play for good causes.

Premier League referee Mark Halsey will be officiating. The Risk will also be performing as will dancers from Sunshine Studios.

Youngsters can enjoy fairground rides and go-karts and Atherton firefighters will also be there.

Entry is £3 payable on the gate and all proceeds will go towards the fund to send Braiden to America to have life-saving surgery.

The gates open at 4.30pm on Sunday and the match starts at 6pm.
