A PENSIONER has appeared in court accused of raping a young girl.
Joseph Hancock, aged 76, of Red Lane, Breightmet , is charged with raping the girl when she was aged between 10 and 12. The alleged incident happened between 1993 and 1995 in Hancock’s former house in Monks Lane, Breightmet.
Hancock, who is deaf, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
His alleged victim, who is now in her 20s, appeared at Bolton Crown Court yesterday via video link where she told the court that Hancock had raped her. The trial continues.
