A DRIVER crashed into two lorries during a police chase after failing to stop at a routine check.
At about 9.40am this morning, the BMW X5 failed to stop for police in Darwen, before being chased into Smith Road in Edgworth.
While trying to escape, the driver crashed into two HGV lorries in Broadhead Road.
He jumped out of the vehicle and ran off, but was later caught.
A police spokesman said: “There was a spot check and the driver made off. There was a police pursuit and he was quickly detained near Smith Road in Edgworth after crashing into two HGVs.”
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of intent to supply class B drugs.
